Composition photographs

Homework this week was about exploring composition in a still life. I thought this had the potential to be a bit dull so I abandoned all thoughts of bottles and vases and found more exciting objects in the toy box. The above photo was the symmetrical effort which was so dull (I know that was the point) that I increased its vibrancy and tint. But I do get it, symmetry can be boring!
My chosen objects allowed for a bit of story telling which might be cheating as I felt it made it easier to make the composition more interesting. It also allowed me to really play with pop colour for the first time. This is another fairly symmetrical photo but it works so much better than the last one as there is so much more to look at. I am not sure about the thirds rule however my eye is drawn up to the dinosaur as both Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader are looking there.
I was playing with perspective a bit here with Luke and his gang in the foreground and Vader protecting the Tardis behind. The red and blue pop colour worked well here with my chosen objects.
This photo was taken from above which I thought interesting however a bit unclear what the action is. All four of them are having a bit of a rammy in front of the tardis if you are interested.
This is closer up with partial figures which I thought worked. Thought it looked interesting in duo colour although it washes out the words police box.
Tried another landscape view with close ups and using the orange pop colour to put the focus on the dinosaur.
And finally, a group shot where the eye follows the snake down to Luke and follows the dinosaurs eyes onto Vader.
I took lots of photos in different arrangements and I could just tell to my eye which ones were stronger. The thirds rule or the golden focus didn't really come into my consideration.
