Digital media - Julian Opie experiments!!!
Liking Julian Opie's portraits I thought I would have a go!
I got Logan to pose, which was a bit of a disaster as he kept on bursting into laughter, however I thought this picture with him giving me his funny eyebrows had potential.
Then I tried to draw him Opie style. Then I photographed the drawing and started working on it in photoshop. It is really hard to draw with a mouse and I couldn't think how to do the colours. (blue picture below)
So then I remembered Nicole and Charlie in class doing all their cartoons on their tablets so I looked up apps and selected Adobe Illustrator Draw (as it was free).
Then I hand drew the second bottom picture and coloured it in.
Then I realised , with the help of my youngest son, that I didn't have to have any portrait drawing skill as I could draw round a photograph so the bottom one is drawn round the photo.
The app was easy enough to use- even I managed it, but I felt like I was cheating and I felt like I didn't need to be any good at art to get an effective result.
Unfortunately Julian Opie has gone down in my estimation.
However, I am going to do this again (these are all drawn with my finger as I didn't have my stylus away on holiday with me) because I do like the look of these portraits and they make me smile.
